I am finally home. I am feeling a bit out of sorts after two weeks of hotels, and convention centers. But it was a wonderful trip. I had more help than ever before and it seemed like a new beginning. Off to a fresh start I suppose. There are many new things now and many new faces to share them with. I love being with so many people as well. Being in the busy-ness of it all is wonderful. I like the market feel of the Los Angeles show. The section we are in is called "World Style". And that it is. It's always a rush for me to be in a bundle of Chinese antiques, Mexican folk arts, wild Indian clothing, and simply an endless stream of jewelry from all over. By the end t all blends together. I can hardly tell one great thing from the next. And in fact it can be hard when fine jewelry is mixed in with the chinsy stuff that sell sat Claire's. It's a sort of wholesale soup at that show. But I love the feel of the chaos in many ways.
The SF show is a softer feeling. There are a lot of booths that really captivate me and make me want to strive for a kick ass display. There are wonderful designers and overall it is a much more focused, trendy group. Nothing like the NY shows but it has a great vibe.
At one of the shows we did this cool light bulb tent. It's hard to see from the photos the effect but it was really cute. I don't think I will do it again though as it was a real pain to get them all untangled at the end. And don't the flowers look super! I went to the beloved Los Angeles flower market for fresh finds. I waddled out with armloads of lillies, delphiniums, lizianthus, and dahlias all for around 30.00!!! I mean seriously! Armloads. I love that place! (It's in the fabric district FYI. 9th & Maple if you live in the area.)
Well I am happy, happy to be back online. I will look forward to seeing what everyone has been up to. For now off to do laundry! YES!
