I just had this big boy scanned.  It is a whopping 53 X 72 inches and now sits happily at Brickroom Cafe & Bar (my familys ratuarant).  I can't wait to play with it and find a way to put it to use at PAPAYA!  I am really pleased with this one- as it is exactly the mood I wanted to overlay in the restaurant.  Abstract, modern but playful.  The scale really helps set it off.  And double bonus that I got to think outside the lines for this project and make a different style than I normally would on my own. I also painted this one for the bar.  And you may have seen these in an earlier post- but the high resolution scans make the viewing so much better than my iphone.  haha.  I still want to make a couple more of them for Brickroom, so hopefully this winter that will unfold nicely. xoxox...

Here's the Deets:  PAPAYA! is recruiting talented sales people for a position based in Medford, Oregon office.  This is both an inside, office sales and domestic traveling position year round.  We are seeking motivated, energized and passionate people to fulfill long-range, lifestyle-brand goals.  Ideal candidates have strong relationship-building skills, developed communications skills, understanding of service practices and the ability to think strategically.  Must be able to travel a great deal and problem solve from any location & work closely with others. Prior knowledge of PAPAYA! Inc and a passion for its product is a plus.  

 Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (preferred) 

1-4 yrs successful sales or other professional service work experience

Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.

Must be in good health for travel and demanding show schedules

Must be available for ongoing travel timelines

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs (required at trade shows)

A technical aptitude- computer software is an important part of this position

Must be able to provide a professional, warm and composed appearance

Must live or relocate to Southern Oregon area.  Ashland, Medford, Grants Pass etc. (It's awesome here)

Finally putting this painting I did while in Mexico last winter- to good use for PAPAYA!  It's mostly acrylic on paper. Which is a great trick if you're traveling btw.  You can use lots of big, high quality papers and then just roll them up and take them home for transport.  I don't like having to unstretch and restretch canvas all that much.  I usually ship them whole when possible.  So paper is a great option.  Anyhoo... I love the massive lillies of Mexico, and we bought as many as we could carry in the market.  I used a reference of a womans face from an old hispanic photograph, found in the home we stayed in.  (Complete with art studio! Thanks to Flora Bowley)  It feels good to be getting these pieces dialed in for upcoming collections.  Need to get back in the studio for more!

I Love Boobies: Benefit for Keep a Breast Foundation

I have been given a wonderful opportunity to participate in the Portland, Keep a Breast Foundation Art Benefit on October 18th at ADX.  The foundation is dedicated to breast cancer awareness and early detection through some very progressive mediums and outreach.  This batch of breast casts for the Portland show is curated by artist extraordinaire, Blaine Fontana of Fontana Studios .    They provided the gorgeous body casts to 12 artists.  I was really inspired by the cast itself.  I really wanted to keep the focus of my piece about the mission itself.  Having a real body cast of a real womans breasts was both inspiring and central to what moved me.  What could be better on boobs...than boobs?  And I loved the ceramic like quality that emerged as I added layers to it.  I also wanted to keep it soft, pretty...healing.  Imagining where a piece like this may end up was important to me.  A survivor, a breast cancer-effected family member, organization or clinic?  It was import ant that the cast felt like an honoring of this.  So that's why it's quite simple.  It felt like a calming piece of artwork that could easily join someone on a breast cancer journey.  The inside has a pressed flower stem and it reads, "love who you are".  Please come to the benefit event if you can or visit Keep a Breast to get involved.
