Been having a lovely time this week on my first week of three, here in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. It's been a wonderful sinking in and as expected full of beautiful color, textures and people. Donkeys, flowers, dogs, cobblestone and coffee. So much goodness in one place it's hard to wrap your mind around. if you have never been, you should consider getting a dose of this magical place.
I'm here thanks to an invitation from artist/ teacher, Flora Bowley who will be offering her workshop next week here and taking us on her intuitive painting process. In the meantime we are staying in a lovely, traditional home with a nice big art studio. Artist friend Alena Henessy was here last week as well and the three of us had a chance to play together in the studio. (more on that soon.) (the lovely Alena Hennessy at a lunch stop during our horseback riding adventure)
(and my host and lovely friend, Flora Bowley in the Artisan Market)
The house we are staying in is painted in every color imagineable and it's tucked away as you'd expect behind high walls and wrapped around an overgrown courtyard. It's filled with folk art and has been a wonderful way to enjoy our time here. Little by little sinking into this area has been the delight I hoped it would be. Full of creative projects and more to come. It's such a rare treat to be staying with other full time artists. We all like what we do and work is just part of the daily routine. So weve been weaving in and out of our various tasks and mixing it with dinner outtings, market visits, walks on cobblestone and shopping every which way. Not a bad way to spend this chilly January!
