Today was a great summer day around here. Chillin on the porch with friends, havin some Bacardi while we pour some 2-part appoxy to finish off some final pieces for the upcoming show that's being hung tomorrow. I always seem to have some kind of trouble when I use appoxy. Mainly with bugs landing in my artwork and forever being preserved in resin. So in my smart thinking I decide it will be fine to lay all the frames on the kitchen floor with the door open and screen closed so no bugs will make their way to them. We let them dry there and later went to check on them only to find they had nearly sealed themselves to the kitchen pergo! YIKES! If you've played with appoxy you know the stuff is seriously permanent on any and all Earthly surfaces. I probably would have either had permanent floor installations or had to remove the floor boards to get them up. Luckily they had not yet completely dried. But trying to remove appoxy from the floor in massive pools of chemical yuck is a major task. But alas the little extra projects are dried and finished. I think they will be a fun little side note. Anyone use something you like better than 2-part appoxy? I wish they made diamond glaze in gallon buckets. I love that stuff.
I'm glad you are back and that you had a good time in NYC. We don't know each other, but, I read your blog often and enjoy pictures of your artwork so much !!

Oh mercy, what a mess you nearly had. I'm just curious about what you did with the appoxy. Your art is beautiful and I enjoy it here often.

I love the look of resin coated collages, they must be so gorgeous in person! I love the little bit I'm seeing here already... you make me want to create. :)

hello, i was reading you blog and remembered that i have used UHU all purpose "twist and glue" to coat things. when it dries it looks just like the diamond glaze, it is half the price and comes in bigger tubes. it is non-toxic and acid free. i worked in a fine art supply store for over 5 years and this is my favorite glue/shlack to date. give it a try!

Hi Anahata. For thick and shiney I prefer Galkyd. It comes in a bottle already mixed and brushes on and dries overnight and looks just like epoxy. I use it for lots of things and I'll bet you'd love it too.

Diamond Glaze does come in an 18 oz. size. And it is alot easier to use than epoxy.
Very nice paintings!
