So my wonderful new home has a studio cottage. Hooray! Trouble is it smells like college-boy renters, has a knarly little kitchen still and some lover-ly carpet. But to get a jump on 2013 I have a very talented phtographer friend coming for a PAPAYA! photoshoot next week. Not next fall...next week. (cue shrill scream) I'm planning to remodel the little cottage later in the spring but for now, I wing it. So Ive been sorting paper bins and journals and art supplies and artwork. (Like this lil snippet from an old journal- w a clipping by Bertrand and a self portrait I did in 1994 below) Juggling in an unfamiliar space and working to make it home. Truth be told I'm still adjusting to even having a place to actually make art! The article I did for Where Women Create Magazine last summer is about not using art studios! Yeah. Working right in the middle of it all. So I actually have to practice going out there!
It's like trying to put on my big-girl-art-pants. But like I said it smells like college boys and looks like a stranger. So "wah wah" I know. I have to transform my little stranger-studio into a new best friend.
And the PAPAYA! peeps will be doing the same in all their lovely work areas. How cute is miss Gitti in her office. I have the original of that painting in my dining room but actually envy her giant one. Might need to upgrade!
