I've been in the studio making layer after layer on this canvas for about a month. (remember the portrait post from
here. Same piece) Granted only when the mood strikes. But looking for the right layer has been the theme on this big guy. I've finally found a locked-in place to work off of and it's starting to feel like the right direction.

I feel like this is the foundation for working over now. With flowers and roots and plants to come. Always need those! And if you spot a
Flora Bowley mood here that's because I started this a month ago after I watched her
online e-course while laid up w a back injury. She has lots of lovely videos and wonderful information on her course. It's nicely done and I would recommend it to anyone. It was good timing for me because I've been nearly obsessed with form, shape and loose painting styles lately. And I'm wanting to incorporate a lot more abstract energy into my work. I'll let you know how that goes...
I'm pretty much in awe of this, so far. And the fact that there is an entire double secret painting underneath makes it even better. If only we could plan all our mistakes and have them turn out so beautifully. Once I did about 3/4 of a painting, got stuck on it, left it for almost a year, reworked it at 4:30 one morning and then took it to a gallery. The next thing I knew it had been made into an art festival poster. Who'da thought?
I cannot wait to see the end result of this one. I think it is going to be amazing.

There is so much movement and grace in this! I also took Flora's class and it helped me so much to learn to let go and just let the painting be what it wants to be. I admit though, I started a piece during her class that still sits in my studio unfinished, waiting for it's moment to come out of it's ugly teenage phase cacoon! I love your art... Anything and everything you paint and your story and creative business journey inspires me in so many ways! Thank you for sharing! Many blessings!
