I can't imagine at this point that you aren't familiar with the illustration of Fiona Hewitt. Maybe best known for her Miso Pretty series with Blue Q.
I took some time to see what more I could learn about this design wizard. English artist Fiona says she has been deeply influenced by her years living in Hong Kong. Fiona says: "Gaining confidence in my new-found style, I returned to my Asian flavored 'paintings' with gusto, this time bringing on board more elaborate and obscure sources, inspired by toys, communist-era propaganda, the Fifties, the Forties, sweets and packaging."
Fiona's artwork seems groundbreaking to me and is such a playful and refreshing example of todays range of possibilities for us all. I love her no apologies commitment to her own style and clear fascinations. Fiona's artwork can be found on many interesting and fun products here with Wu & Wu, Blue Q, and Chronicle Books.

fiona is amazing. I found her duffle bag by Wu and Wu at Casa, in Santa Fe. I was under a spell and had to have it or die right there on the spot. and I never buy anyting for myself. of course, I thought of someone I could buy it for but then told myself "hey! YOU like it. get it!" and it was only twenny bucks. the little girl in the bunny hat and the radish friend knocked me out. I use it all the time. she also has a shopping bag with Michele O'Bama on it that is in my favorite store in Santa Fe. Doodlet's. I even sent Fiona a fan e-missive and she was very grateful. it was a cold and rainy day in England and it brightened it up. I love everything about her work. thanks for showing more of its wonder!

There's something in her work that reminds me of Mark Ryden's paintings - the doll-like prettiness of the girls, the surreal/sweet/subversive background imagery, the level of technical proficiency ...masterful, in any case.
Many times I was tempted to buy a Miso Pretty product not because I needed it, but becasue I loved the packaging to bits... that's mad marketing skill.
