Mixed Media Mandalas:

Today was the first day of gearing up for my Artfest 2008 proposals. I have been wanting to do these mixed media mandalas for some time. But it's all been in my head. Today my Mom and my good friend Nara agreed to let me try the ideas out on them. The three of us worked all day on good layered canvases. Here's mine from the end of the day.
For some reason photographing things with foil is sincerely difficult for me to do. They never turn out right. This canvas is actually taxi cab yellow and pale pink. I really need to take a photo class so I bring ou all good pics! Anyhow. The time study we all did today and the practice runs we made went well. But the timeline was still too long. We will be trying again next weekend with some more friends to try and get the entire project finished in six hours from start to end. I just know it can be done. It's really fun to do an entire piece in one day. Especially when you get to play with pinlining and foil. It's like tinsel on the tree. The best part. So there has to be time for everything... I'm going to keep at the process so I can get the timing down just right. Imagine 30 of these babies shining at the end of a day!

Oh my gosh, they are fantastic. I love them. I so wish I was in the US to take a class with you.

My goodness! Your work is truly stunning! I just love the combination of the mundane and sublime in the bottom piece...the newsprint and the golden metallics...quite an inspired and magnificent combination. I enjoyed reading your article in CPS... and I'm happy to have "found" your work. Thank you!

Does a busy, nifty chick like you have time to be tagged?
Sure you do! Who wouldn't want to drum up 7 interesting things about herself and share it with the world?
And I am quite sure there are at least 7 interesting things about you.
Come see my blog for details and come play!
