In the early winter 16 artists worked on the theme of Marie Antoinette. inspired by the recent movie and all it's wonderful, opulent imagery - the inspiration was easy to find. Lynne Perrella and I organized a little zine for the participating artist. Lynne is a master of such things and such a delight to work with. She held my hand through the process and totally kept the inspiration flowing. (sorry gang there aren't any other copies of the zine) I wanted to share some of that project with you here. It was a wonderful experience and so many artists made amazing little bundles of goodness that the zine arrived with. I will post more of the zine this week. The following pics are some of my contributions. Since I was lucky enough to get the files in order for printing I had a chance to play around with some extra pages like this index page!
This lady was actually shrunk into little gift tags as my "extra" contribution.
In the beginning there were a lot of emails circling around with ideas and stories about the era. Michelle Ward had told us about this nasty invention that kept rats out of Royal Hair-do's! I guess the flour would mix with the oild on the scalp and form a nasty cheese that little mice loved! (Oh-meh-gawd!) I was so horrified that I had to make a page about this idea. It was a good reminder not to glamorize other time periods.
This page ended up being more Vampire than Marie but you get the idea.
Then while I was doing a Marie search on google I found these freaky manequins and had to something with them. Aren't they too funny. I now understand why they switched to wiggs back in the day. I would definitely wear a wig over a hair cage and head cheese! So...I promise to share more from other artists who have approved- soon enough.
